These are the absolute number one soil amendment I have found for consistently growing gorgeous & healthy succulents. I originally found them on Amazon for double this price. Imagine my delight when I discovered Country Max had them too (and much cheaper!!).
These pebbles are unique when you look closely. They are not just a ball of clay. Somehow, they expand the clay (almost like popcorn) so there are tiny cracks and holes throughout each pebble. This makes them super lightweight (which is great for reducing the overall weight of your planters). I would liken them to perlite, but much better. I used to use perlite but would never switch back. I love these little guys!!
These basically improve drainage by adding air into the soil. This prevents the soil from becoming waterlogged and compressed. When I started growing succulents, I often overwatered, Since discovering these, their care is almost foolproof. Even if you are over water, the soil drains & your succulents remain strong & healthy. Now, I get beautiful flowers and tons of propagation on all my succulents!
I've even begun adding them to all of my planters to reduce the weight and keep my plant roots healthy.
