Pure Suet Cakes
These are hard to find, and the only ones which don't attract the squirrels. I've used them for years in the cold weather and attract woodpeckers, creepers, nuthatches and yellow-rumped warblers.

Pure Suet is The Best
I was happy to find a place which still carried pure suet. The ones with seeds, etc. (and even pepper) are eaten by all the wildlife and don't last, but the plain suet is only eaten by the woodpeckers, nuthatches and a few other birds. I just wish it wasn't so expensive!

Heath Natural Pure Suet
I've been buying this suet for years. It's one of the few available that doesn't contain fillers such as corn and grain. The squirrels ignore it and my birds birds love it.

I'm pleased that CountryMax carries this product. It is the best. The downy, flicker and ladder-backed woodpeckers all love it. What's even better is that the grackles don't like it.

Attracts woodpeckers and nuthatches
I'm thrilled to find this product again. I've used it for years in the cooler weather. It is not of interest to sparrows (or squirrels) but is loved by woodpeckers, nuthatches, creepers, etc. In my garden it lasts much longer than the suet containing seed and other ingredients.

These suet cakes are exactly what we needed, and they currently seem difficult to find. Squirrels and the birds which arrive in gangs (mostly blackbirds or starlings) do not much care for plain suet. Now the woodpeckers are able to eat in peace.
