Backyard Seeds Safflower seed is a cardinal favorite! High in fat, protein and oil content, safflower is a valuable nutrition source for wild birds. Chickadees, titmice, nuthatches and grosbeaks are also attracted to safflower seed. Squirrels typically leave safflower seed alone and will only eat it if there is nothing else available.
A black oil sunflower seed bird feeder will work for safflower seed. However, cardinals are ground-feeding birds so try a platform feeder.
I bought this Bulk safflower seeds because is way cheaper for my girls parrots. I know is going to be a long time before I order any more. I don’t feed my Parrots only Safflower seeds ,Bird kibbles,and they eat vegetables and few nuts. Price has gone way up , that is why I bought this bag.
