The squirrels in my front yard love these peanuts. Nothing is wasted and no shell husks.

Clean (and deters starlings!)

These peanut pickouts work great in my mesh feeder. The birds that come daily are finches, chickadees, titmice, cardinals, Downy, Hairy and Red-bellied woodpeckers, Carolina wrens and sparrows. Lots of bird variety and no mess with seed shells!

One unexpected plus with this particular brand is that the starlings don't like them! I have been amazed by this. When I use another popular brand of bird peanuts which seem to have a wonderful "roasted" smell, I have a big problem with starlings swarming and devouring them. But both times that I switched to these Backyard pickouts, the starlings stopped coming. I think they don't like them because the Backyard peanuts are raw.

The only thing to watch with this brand is that in one order the peanuts came unsplit and they were shaped like round balls and the birds couldn't get them out of the mesh. It was a waste of 15 pounds of peanuts! Since that one time, however, they seem to have gone back to being split and are fine again. Hopefully the company will keep an eye on that in the future.

My blue jays, cardinals, dove, brown thrashers, wood peckers, etc. love the peanuts and I enjoy watching them as they eat them.

These are the only peanuts I buy to put in my bird feeders. Other brands - approximately 1/3 of the peanuts have the skins still on them and my birds will not eat them. They prefer skins off peanuts. These Backyard Peanut Pickouts are the best and Countrymax has the best price for the 10 lb bag including shipping. I hate paying S&H but I did the math and I couldn't get a lower total price anywhere.
